Business Forum Japan-Serbia
On 17th October 2018, a Business Forum Japan-Serbia, organized in cooperation with Japanese Business Alliance in Serbia (JBAS), European Enterprise Network – Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Embassy of Japan was held in Belgrade.
On this occasion Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Kenji Yamada, visited Serbia, emphasizing the positive trend in enhancement of relations between Japan and Serbia and confirming dedication of Japan towards further intensification of cooperation between our two countries.
Positive aspects of mutual collaboration were also pointed out by Mrs. Maja Mandrapa Gasic, Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication of the Republic of Serbia.
The participants had an opportunity to learn more about the potentials and conditions for doing business in Japanese market, as well as to find out more about the activities of Japanese business society in Serbia and cooperation between our two countries during the conference part of the event.
Satoshi Abe, Special advisor in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and General Director of JETRO Vienna Office, has presented the current trends in Japanese IT and Food & beverages industry and brought the business culture of Japan closer to the audience, while Mrs. Gabriela Zahan, EHS & Process Improvement Manager, JT International AD Senta, has shared the experience of JTI’s factory in kaizen implementation. The companies gathered at the event, also had an opportunity to hear more about the experiences of company Elixir related to cooperation with Japan, as well as to get concrete advices through the presentation of Mrs. Vera Popovic, Commercial Sector Director of company Elixir Food.
The panel discussion, dedicated to the business cooperation between Japan and Serbia, gathering Mrs. Danijela Cabarkapa, Executive Director of JBAS, Mr. Goran Pekez, Corporate Affairs and Communications Director JTI Western Balkan and President of JBAS, Mr. Naoki Tsukada, General Manager of Mitsubishi Corporation Representative Office in Serbia and member of JBAS Board of Directors, Mr. Djordje Ljubojevic, Head of Sales of Sirogojno Company, Mr. Rados Gazdic, Acting Director of Development Agency of Serbia and Mr. Mihailo Vesovic, Advisor to the President of CCIS, was an excellent opportunity for the participants to get more information about current cooperation but also about the potentials for further improvement of cooperation between two countries. What was especially emphasized during the panel is the positive trend in cooperation as well as the increase of presence and interest of Japanese business society in collaboration with Serbia.
After the conference part, the first supplier day for Japanese companies in Serbia took place, providing Japanese and Serbian companies with an opportunity to discuss potential establishment of business relations during the forty meetings held.
Business Forum Japan-Serbia is a direct result of this year’s visit of Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Abe and initiative for further intensification of cooperation, which will be continued through various activities dedicated to targeting potentials for collaboration in the future period as well.
