JBAS at JTI new production line opening ceremony
On 30th August 2018 JTI has organized a ceremony dedicated to the starting of a new production line at factory in Senta.
The cigarette packing line was put into operation by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Mr. Rasim Ljajic, H.E. Ambassador of Japan in Serbia Mr. Junichi Maruyama, President of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina Mr. Istvan Pastor and the Chairman of Japan Tobacco Group, Mr. Yasutake Tango.
As Mr. Tango pointed out JTI plant in Senta is the most successful one among the group’s 27 plants in the world based on the key business indicators and that it successfully promoted Japanese investments.
Since the purchase of Duvanska Industrija Senta in 2006, JTI had invested over USD 180 million in Serbia, tripled the number of employees from 84 to 290, started the production of cigarettes and the import to the markets of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Croatia and Albania, as well as the export of tobacco and cigarettes to the EU and is one of the five biggest taxpayers in Serbia. All this makes JTI the biggest Japanese investor in Serbia.
Members of Japanese Business Alliance in Serbia have joined the ceremony with the best wishes for our founding member JTI in the future.
