A record visit to the JTI factory in Senta on the occasion of the Kaizen Open Door Day
On 6th June 2018, our member Japan Tobacco International, has organized a Kaizen Open Door Day in its factory in Senta for the seventh year in a row – this year JBAS members have joined the initiative.
60 representatives of the 21 most reputable companies in Serbia have visited the factory in Senta in order to learn more about achieving higher level of efficiency and productivity with the minimum required investments by implementing Japanese business philosophy Kaizen.
Thanks to the following the principle that not a single day in a company can pass without at least minor improvement, the factory in Senta has become a leader among 27 JTI factories globally based on the key business performance indicators.
The Senta factory is the first factory in Serbia with the full implementation of Kaizen principles, which led to the increase in productivity by 50% and the decrease in waste quantity by 70% as of 2008 when the Kaizen principles were introduced for the first time. Therefore, every year JTI provides the interested companies with an opportunity to learn more about the concrete results of Kaizen principles implementation and by supporting the exchange of good practices contributes to the further development of business environment in Serbia.
The principle of continuous improvement is the foundation of Kaizen together with an optimal usage of all available resources and special accent on employees’ initiative. Kaizen requires a minimum financial investment but leads to the substantial change in the way people work and think. The employees are encouraged and motivated to provide their own proposals for work space and activities improvements – the best proposals are implemented and the proactive employees awarded.
One additional proof of excellent results that JTI is achieving globally is the fact that the certification body operating on the level of the whole group (120 countries and more than 40,000 employees) has awarded JTI factory in Senta a golden 5S certificate, meaning that all the factory sectors have achieved 99% of the optimal working place and process control organization.
